Division Chief, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery – One Brooklyn Health

One Brooklyn Health (OBH) is seeking an accomplished oral and maxillofacial surgeon to serve as Division Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery within the Department of Dental Medicine & Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in Brooklyn, New York.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a surgeon-educator interested in clinical and administrative leadership, academic medicine, and teaching. The Division Chief will provide strategic, clinical, and administrative leadership for oral and maxillofacial surgery services across the OBH system, which includes Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Interfaith Medical Center, and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center.

The position includes oversight of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient surgical services, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership of OBH’s CODA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active surgical practice across OBH campuses.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for oral and maxillofacial surgical services, including dentoalveolar surgery, implant placement, oral pathology, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, and head and neck oncologic procedures.
  • Oversee emergency and on-call surgical coverage across the health system.
  • Lead quality assurance and morbidity and mortality review activities.
  • Provide leadership for the OMS Residency Program, including curriculum development, resident evaluation, recruitment, mentoring, and CODA accreditation compliance.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop OMS residents and faculty.
  • Promote research, scholarly activity, continuing education, and evidence-based surgical practice.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the division.
  • Manage divisional budgets, productivity measures, operative volume, and revenue-cycle performance.
  • Identify opportunities for program development, service-line expansion, and investment in surgical technology.

Required Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD degree from a CODA-accredited dental school; an MD degree is a plus.
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
  • Board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • New York State dental license or eligibility to obtain licensure before starting.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • At least seven years of clinical experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, including three years in an academic medical center or teaching hospital.
  • Demonstrated experience in surgical leadership, faculty development, or residency-program oversight.

Preferred qualifications include prior leadership within a CODA-accredited OMS residency program, fellowship training in an OMS subspecialty, experience in an urban safety-net or academic medical center, and a record of research or peer-reviewed publication.
